All places for this course have now been allocated. Thank you for your interest in our Youth Mental Health First Aid training.

Occasionally youth leaders will act as first responders to a young person who is struggling with their mental health. We want to assist our youth leaders in how to identify and respond appropriately to these conversations, and how to get a young person in crisis the help they need. In light of this, the UCA State Youth Development Team, collaborating with Mission Resourcing, the Intergen Team and Safe Church SA are offering accredited Youth Mental Health First Aid training.

The course, accredited by Mental Health First Aid Australia and led by Rev. Mark Dickens, will teach youth leaders how to:

Recognise common mental health problems in young people

Provide initial help using a practical, evidence-based action plan

Seek appropriate professional help

Respond in a crisis situation

The training features an online component (approximately 4-5 hours), which must be completed prior to face-to-face learning on one of the following dates at the Uniting College:

16th October, 9am-5pm SOLD OUT

27th November, 9am-5pm SOLD OUT

4th December, 9am-5pm SOLD OUT

The heavily subsidised cost per person is $50 with lunch and barista coffee provided.

Places for each date are strictly limited and will be offered on a first-in, first-served basis depending on availability.
